Marble Canyon The Colorado River carves a dramatic path through Marble Canyon, a stunning stretch of the Grand Canyon region in northern Arizona. As it flows between towering walls of layered limestone and sandstone, the river reveals a vivid cross-section of geological history, etched over millions of years. The canyon's sheer cliffs, often glowing red and gold in the sunlight, rise steeply above the winding waters, creating a breathtaking contrast between rock and river. Marble Canyon marks the beginning of the Grand Canyon proper, and it's not only a geologic wonder but also a sacred and culturally rich area. The photo was taken from the historic Navajo Bridge. Prints and products are available through this site or my Pixels - Fine Art America site. See more of my Grand Canyon photography here. |
