Built at Bay Shipbuilding Company in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, this behemoth was designed with cutting-edge self-unloading technology, making cargo transfers swift and efficient.

Stretching an imposing 1,000 feet long and 105 feet wide, Indiana Harbor isn't just big—it’s record-breaking. With a staggering 77,500 net tons of iron ore capacity, it holds the title for the largest tonnage ever transported through the Soo Locks. A true workhorse of the inland seas, this vessel remains a vital part of America’s industrial backbone.
