Sahara Hotel and Casino The Sahara Casino in Las Vegas holds a rich history dating back to its grand opening on October 7, 1952. It was one of the first major hotel-casinos to grace the famous Las Vegas Strip. Originally named the "Sahara Hotel and Casino," it quickly became an iconic destination in the desert city. May 16th, 2011, the Sahara closed its doors amid financial difficulties, marking the end of an era for one of Las Vegas' most storied casinos. However, its legacy lived on, and in 2014, the property was purchased by the SBE Entertainment Group and renamed the "SLS Las Vegas." In 2019, the Sahara name returned to the Las Vegas Strip when the SLS was rebranded as the "Sahara Las Vegas." The reimagined resort pays tribute to the Sahara's heritage while offering modern amenities and experiences for today's visitors.See more of my Las Vegas photography here. |
